Belhaven Bikes teams up with The Royal Mackintosh for Bike Week 2015 – fundraising for the STV Appeal

This year for Bike Week – 13-21st June 2015 – we are happy to announce we are teaming up with The Royal Mackintosh hotel to bring more cycling joy while raising funds for the STV Appeal.

Bike Week is an annual event which shows how cycling can easily be part of everyday life. Demonstrating the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling, the week aims to get people to give cycling a go all over the UK.

The STV Appeal is committed to helping children and young people affected by poverty in Scotland. STV’s weatherman, Sean Batty, has been one of the Appeal’s biggest supporters. This year Sean is undertaking another grueling cycle challenge, cycling over 250km from Tarbert to our home town of Dunbar, coast to coast across Scotland.

We are joining in the Bike Week celebrations again this year by offering free bike hire and bike safety checks in our cycle workshop! We are also collaborating with the STV Appeal therefore donations to the Appeal will be gratefully received while you enjoy free hire or a safety check.

During Bike Week you can hire a bike, free for a day, to discover the benefits of cycling. You could try cycling to work, take a trip to the local shops, visit a friend, one of the many local, visitor attractions or why not join Sean Batty when he cycles through East Lothian on Sunday 14 June for the STV Appeal?

We’re delighted that The Royal Mackintosh hotel in Dunbar are also joining in the fundraising to welcome Sean and the STV Appeal team to Dunbar. On Sunday 14 June we will set up a stationary bike at the hotel and you can sponsor their staff to keep up the pace with Sean as he rides through East Lothian.

There will also be a pub quiz that day at the Royal Mackintosh with some great prizes. The big question is, can Sean answer the weather questions correctly?

Free bike safety checks are offered during Bike Week, although you can access this service from us all year round. We are members of the Association of Cycle Traders and hold Cytech certification, which is the bicycle industry’s recognised training and accreditation scheme for bicycle mechanics.

For more information or to book a hire or bike check you can; pop into the shop, we’re at Rigg Service Station, Belhaven Road, Dunbar, East Lothian EH42 1DE, call us on 01368 860300, email us, or contact us on Twitter
